NASEHA SYAHIRA

That moment when I am officially an undergraduate student of IIUM, I already had things that I want to achieve throughout my degree years. Some of those things are I want to be one of the Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) and IIUM Student Union staff. I never imagined that a first-year student would be able to achieve that position. I thought that only 2nd-year students and above can be an MRC or IIUMSU staff. The reason is simple. Because we're new students and we don't have enough experience related to that positions. There is just no way that we will be accepted to take those positions. That's what I think...

But little that I know, there is actually first-year students that have become an MRC and me myself become one of the IIUMSU staff when I am just a first-year student! It's really shocking to believe to be honest. Well at least for me! 😛 I just thought about how I had wasted a year of my life to fulfil my dream of becoming an MRC. But looking back at what I had done throughout my first year, actually, I did not waste anything at all!

During my first year, I hold a position called Block Representative Committee (BRC) which is under the MRC. Generally, it is a position where we help the MRCs in conducting programs as well as taking care of students welfare in Mahallah (hostel). But since we are in a pandemic, the second job scope is not really in action. Because everyone is at home. Duhhh. I learned a few things during I hold this position, but for me, I am still unsatisfied. I did not achieve the objectives of why I want to take this position. Because of that, I applied for the subcommittee of Public Relations and Advocacy of IIUM Student Union's position. Hoping that I can learn more and new things from this position. And it did! 😍

For the subcommittee position, I am responsible for handling IIUMSU official social media, specifically Twitter. I post tweets as well as answering students inquiries and collecting students concerns from the direct messages as well as tweets. So, if you had contacted IIUMSU through Twitter, most probably you were talking to me 🙊. Anyway, if you think that this job is easy, I would say it is not that easy. When it comes to communicating with other people, like a total stranger person, we must always communicate in the right manner as well as making sure that the other person understands the information correctly. I have also experienced a situation where students were angry and say bad things to us. This is where I learned how to communicate with 'angry' people efficiently and professionally. hahaha. The best thing about this position is I know a lot of things about my university. To whom we should ask if there is this problem or that problem, what we should do if this happens. A lot of things. I really really love this because I am not only able to help myself when things happen in the university, but I also can help the students. And that's the most satisfying thing that I feel when I'm taking this position.

So here's the thing. If you ever feel like you are too young for certain positions in the university, no you're not. Don't make age as an excuse for you to dump those opportunity. Age is not important. The  important thing is your personality and characteristics. Age won't help you do your job, but experiences and good personality will. Now when I mentioned experiences, how about people who don't have any experiences? Here's my advice. If you're confident enough to apply for top positions, please just do so. You might make mistakes here and there, but I believe that you will learn and improve in the future. On the other hand, if you're not confident enough (like me), do apply for lower positions first. Maybe a subcommittee of societies or projects. You will be more confidence eventually as you will be familliar with how certain things work. To be honest, I prefer the second one as it will reduce mistakes at the top level. Because you know, when the top management is problematic, those who are at the lower level will also be affected. But hey, you are allowed to do whatever you believe that is true. You don't have to listen to me though. This is just my personal opinion. 😁

 ASSALAMUALAIKUM

Setelah beberapa bulan aku menyepi, kini aku kembali dengan membawa khabar berita bahawa telah bermulanya fasa baharu dalam kehidupan Naseha Syahira. AKU DAH MULA DEGREE!!! Betapa pantasnya masa berlalu. Rasanya baru daftar asasi haritu.

***********

Ulang-alik ke kelas pun dah cukuplah tu exercise nya. Kereta pula 4th year baru boleh pakai. Sampai je bilik, aku rasa macam dah takde kaki. Esok paginya cramp. Haih, macam manalah kehidupan aku selepas ini ya? :)

THINGS THAT I LOVE IN UIA GOMBAK

Hahaha. Harapnya perasaan ini takkan berubah.

***********

I graduated from CFS with CGPA 3.92. Alhamdulillah. Now, I'm pursuing my studies in Bachelor of Science (Islamic Finance). I'm not sure if this is the best choice. The only thing that I am very certain of is I love Mathematics. Kata hati aku mengatakan aku perlu pilih Islamic Finance. Tawakal.

Allahu. Saya terharu sangat awak! T^T Terus update ni ha. Saya masih hidup dan terima kasih kerana masih setia membaca blog saya. Terima kasih juga untuk pembaca yang lain! Dah rasa semangat balik dah nak rajin update. 💪😄

ASSALAMUALAIKUM

Dengar cerita student CFS IIUM Gambang sesi 2020/2021 dah masuk. Selamat datang ye adik-adik!

1. CANVA

Canva is my all-time favourite graphic design platform. Bukan sekadar edit gambar, kita boleh edit poster, buat logo, edit instagram photos, instagram story, presentation, flyers, cards, infographic, business card, photo collage, etc. Literally, you can edit everything in Canva. The best part is, it is FREE. But of course, there are some limitations. Tapi walaupun kita tak boleh guna semua features yang ada, it is enough to create something amazing and beautiful.

Selalunya bila Business ni, one of the assessment kena buka gerai dan menjual. So we need to make a poster about our shop so that people will know about it. Jadi kitorang buat flyers and I used Canva.

Jadi, kalau nak edit gambar, buat poster dan sebagainya, boleh gunakan aplikasi Canva ye!

2. INSHOT

FREE Video Editor for students. Bagi aku, guna Inshot pun dah mencukupi. First, sebab applications ni FREE. You don't want to spend money just for assignments kan? Plus, it's quite expensive actually. Why we should pay if we can get a free one right? Kita boleh letak text, videos, pictures, ada some effects, ada transitions, boleh crop, and then kita boleh overlay videos with pictures which is very good. Sebab tu Overlay Videos/Pictures is possible. Cumanya bila FREE, of courselah ada watermark. Tapi lagi eloklah watermark Inshot daripada watermark Filmora. HAHAHA Filmora besar gedabak wehhhh. Jangan main-main. HAHAHAHA.

Inshot ni aku baru je guna untuk business. Sebelum ni guna Sony Vegas Pro 15. Yes, software ni berbayar tapi someone help me to get it for free. 👀 After a few years, masa end of semester haritu tiba-tiba tak boleh buka pula software tu dia kata aku tak layak. huhuhuhu. Terbongkar sudahlah aku tak bayar ha gituh. hahahaha. Jadinya, aku edit guna Wevideo pula. Tapi aku guna account kawan aku sebab account aku takde multiple track.

Dia juga ajar macam mana nak buat citation using APA style or MLA style. Macam tak faham je kan? hahahaha. Takpe, nanti korang belajar. Macam aku, aku kena buat 2 Article Review dengan 1 Synthesis Paper. In Academic Writing, Citation and Format is very crucial. Daripada Foundation Year ni lah korang kena belajar macam mana nak buat.

Lepastu korang pilihlah references korang tu jenis apa. Article ke, Websites ke, Report ke and etc. Isikan semua butiran, pastu nanti dia akan automatically cite references tu. Easy right?

Here's the link >> https://www.scribbr.com/apa-style/apa-seventh-edition-changes/

4. Google Docs

Kenapa nak guna Google Docs? Microsoft Word kan ada.

Google Docs ni memang fungsinya sama je macam Microsoft Word. Memang mudahlah. Dan tak makan space laptop atau phone.

5. Google Forms

Another google products yang sangat membantu. Google From ni korang boleh gunakan untuk buat survey. Lecturer pon ada guna untuk Quiz juga. Nak guna pon sangat mudah.  Nak share link pon mudah. Senang cerita memang mudahlah! Paling penting, FREE. HAHAHAHA

6. Google Sheets

After this aku nak buat Movie Review pula. Tunggu gais! Okay, Bye~

Assalamualaikum

Aku selalulah dapat soalan-soalan tentang CFS IIUM Gambang ni. Selalunya aku jawab dekat comment youtube, instagram dengan email. Memandangkan aku takde bahan nak bercerita atau benda-benda yang bermanfaat dan menarik untuk dikongsikan, aku rasa this is the right time to help adik-adik (ecewah, macam tua sangat. puihhh asasi pon tak habis lagi HAHAHA) yang ada persoalan tentang Centre for Foundation Studies International Islamic University Malaysia Campus Gambang. (CFS IIUM). Ha gituwhhh...

pic was taken by a student of CFS IIUM

1. Semua student Asasi study dekat Uia Gambang ke?
Ya.

5. Ujian EPT dengan APT tu apa?
EPT tu ujian Bahasa Inggeris. Kita kena describe the data/graph. Karangan jenis kedua ialah Argumentative Essay.

APT tu ujian Bahasa Arab.

Jangan takut kalau tak pass kedua-dua exam ni sebab korang takkan kena buang universiti pon. Jangan overthinking macam aku ya. hahaha. Kalau tak lepas, korang hanya perlu add subject bahasa lah nanti. But believe me, belajar language dekat UIAM ni best. Happening je.

6. Boleh online shopping/terima barang pos tak?
Ya.

8. Satu bilik berapa orang?
Satu bilik 4 orang. Dapat katil sorang satu, locker sorang satu, meja study sorang satu, kipas sorang satu, 2 plug sorang satu. Ada ampaian kecik jugak dalam bilik. Cermin besar ada satu setiap bilik. Setiap loker pun ada cermin. Jadi, cukuplah untuk kau hidup dengan selesa.

C'mon, this is International University! hehehe. Jangan panik dulu. Tidak semua pelajar boleh fasih berbahasa Inggeris. Just try okay. Dekat sini takde siapa nak gelakkan kau.

11. Boleh bawa kenderaan tak?
Strictly NO. Tak pakai kaki, kau naiklah basikal pergi kelas. Kereta dan motor tidak dibenarkan sama sekali.

12. Outing macam mana?
Outing setiap hari Jumaat hingga Ahad. Seawal 8 pagi dah boleh keluar dah tapi kau nak pergi mana? HAHAHA. Mall pon buka pukul 10 pagi. Selalunya pukul 9 lah orang keluar. Balik sebelum 10 malam.

Kalau ada apa-apa soalan boleh comment dekat bawah or email me okay. By the way, kalau korang nak tengok suasana di CFS IIUM ni macam mana boleh tekan link ni https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrQayPCAGP4. That's my personal vlog about 'Life in CFS IIUM'. Dalam tu ada aku tunjuk kelas macam mana, koperasi, cafe and macam-macam lagi. so korang kena tengok!

Sampai di sini sahaja, bye.

Assalamualaikum

Entrepreneurial Day

Untuk mudah faham, macam projek menjual lah. Berbusiness. Tema malam itu ialah pasar malam. Kumpulan aku jual Yong Tau Foo. Maklumlah duduk dalam 'hutan', susah nak merasa makanan macam ni. Jadi kitorang juallah. Dan alhamdulillah, sambutan sangat menggalakkan. Belum buka gerai, ramai yang dah beratur. Kumpulan lain dah habis menjual, kami masih lagi menjual sebab kitorang beli banyak sangat stok. 😅 Nak katanya, dari awal sampai akhir memang tak menang tangan. Malam tu pon aku makan sikit sangat, sekadar mengalas perut sebab kepala aku dah mula pening-pening. Tunggu masa je nak pengsan. HAHA

My teammates

Some scenes during the E-day

RESULTS FOR SEM 2

Alhamdulillah, aku berjaya mengekalkan 4.0 atau grade A untuk subjek teras. Subjek teras untuk semester ni Business tulah. hehe.. Tapi CGPA tak mampulah nak 4 flat. Dapatlah Dean List lagi untuk semester kedua ni. Alhamdulillah. But, Alhamdulillah, I had succeed.

Assalamualaikum

I just dream to have one, or more. If possible. HAHA. Alhamdulillah, it is not just a dream anymore. It had become a reality. I have an international friend! Her name is Arub Amin and she's from the UK. So whenever I need to communicate with her, I need to speak in English. She still cannot speak in Malay but she already knows some of the words like comel, cantik and etc.

I get to know her when we met at Merdeka Night. Malam tu, every student encouraged to wear kain batik (for sisters) because we want that patriotism spirits. There was a lot of cultural performance and theater that night. So on that night, Arub experienced new things and knows more about our culture. Aku macam bangga gila do waktu tu. HAHAHA Why? Sebab dia kata, dekat negara dia tak sambut kemerdekaan semeriah negara kita. Bangga kan? She saw my kain batik and she would like to have one because it's so pretty! So, I decided to buy one for her.

I bought this one at Bandar Tun Razak less than RM20
So starting from that day we are friends! What makes me really proud of myself is I can speak in English and she understand what I'm trying to say. I have really low self confidence when it comes to English, but I challenge myself to use that language, get used to it because I know how important it is for my future.

ISLAMOPHOBIA EXPERIENCE

Bila cakap pasal Arub ni, gosh.. She's so nice and she makes me realise betapa bertuahnya kita dilahirkan sebagai seorang Muslim di negara Islam. Aku tanya dia pasal Islamophobia dekat UK. Memang ada and dia pon pernah kena. Verbally. Still alhamdulillah sebab not physically.

Dia dekat sekolah waktu tu and dia ada satu bag yang dia bawak pergi sekolah. Then a guy cakap dekat dia, "what's in your bag? A bomb?".  Dia pon pernah experienced orang kata dia terrorist. Bila dia cerita tu aku teringat perjuangan orang-orang Islam dulu. Kena caci, kena seksa and everything because of our faith. Kita tak pernah rasa semua tu dekat Malaysia because majority is Muslim. That's another thing that we need to be grateful.

HER FAITH

I am only a human dan aku tak rapat pun dengan dia sangat. Tapi based on apa yang aku perhatikan, dia jaga agama dia. Like after solat dia akan luangkan masa sikit untuk berzikir.

Dia kena slide je assignment tu melalui lubang kat bawah pintu tu. You get what I mean? Tapi disebabkan assignment tu ada ayat Quran and pasal agama dia berat hati nak slide through the door sebab kat lantai kan. She asked me banyak kali, "is it okay?" aku terkelu lidah nak cakap. Sentap jugaklah waktu tu sebab aku baru je hantar assignment yang sama, slide bawah pintu jugak tapi aku tak terfikir pon ada ayat Quran, it is not appropriate lah apalah bla bla! Akhirnya dia slide je sebab dia yakin dengan ustaz dia sebab ustaz yang suruh buat macam tu.

Kalau cakap pasal social media pon dia selalu share pasal agama. Bagus sangattt. :') She always said masyallah tabarakallah, alhamdulillah, inshaallah. And she also very grateful that she can call people here as sisters or brothers because islam itu kan bersaudara. Aku masuk UIA bila kena cakap sister and brother macam cringe sikit. But luckily aku dah biasa sebab kat kisas lagilah kena cakap muslimin muslimat je. Haram sebut nama lelaki pula tu! HAHAHA poodaaahh aduhai jahatnya aku. wakakakaka. But yeah baguslah ada 'sister' and 'brother' ni since kalau aku nak panggil orang yang I don't even know boleh je panggil "SISTERRRR!!!" selain "WOI PEREMPUANNNN!!" okay okay tu gurau. HAHA

Before I end my entry for today, I would like to share with you guys some screenshots from her status. Semoga memberi ibrah dan pengajaran or just anything that you can get. That's all from me. Until we meet again in the next entry. Inshaallah I will be talking about APT and EPT exam because currently, I've got an email from someone, asking me about these exams. I believe that there are lots of people out there that are still confused. And if you want to ask me, or share your opinions or ask my opinion tak kisahlah apa-apa, just email me and I will roger2 you later. Cewah haha.

So, tu jelah aku nak story.

Assalamualaikum

Minta maaflah sebab entry sebelum ni quite 'dark' cause I was overwhelmed that night. Waktu tu malam terakhir aku dekat CFS for semester 1. Dan malam itu jugak ialah malam terakhir aku untuk study for my last final exam paper. Aku tak tahu kenapa aku rasa sangat-sangat malas dan pada waktu yang sama aku menyalahkan diri aku 'kenapa kau malas, kenapa kau tak study'. I did push myself to study malam tu, but I can't. Aku mula risau macam mana aku nak jawab paper esok, can i get that 4 flat for this semester and etc. I felt very anxious that night and I ended up crying.

Aku try revise balik apa semua. I still not feel confident when I walked into the exam room, I did forget some facts but I think positively that Allah will help me and maybe this is the Qadr and Qada' that He had planned for me. Akhirnya, aku bolehlah juga jawab. Insyaallah. :,)

QUIZZES & TESTS

Aku mula sedar kehidupan kat universiti macam mana. Every week mesti ada quizzes, tests. For me, baguslah ada quiz, tests apa semua sebab bagi aku kalau takde benda ni, bila final exam nanti memang naya lah kau nak revise balik dari awal sampai habis. Sekurang-kurangnya kalau dah pernah ada quiz, test for some topics, kita senang nak revise balik masa final exam nanti. Tak cakap lagi ada discussion for certain assignment yang memerlukan kerjasama in group. So untuk study sendiri tu memang susah jugaklah nak cari masa.

I was thinking, aku yang takde jawatan pun dah panik bila banyak benda tak settle lagi, macam manalah mereka yang ada jawatan? Salute! Alhamdulillah lah Allah tak bagi aku jawatan in foundation.

Dapatlah pickup.

ASSIGNMENT

Disebabkan aku ARTS student, assignment banyak memerlukan kami berinteraksi dengan manusia. We need to do a presentation, solve problem that is happening in CFS, doing business for 2 months and also Exhibition. We need to use critical and creative thinking to solve the problems, kena buat poster lah, temu ramahlah, lecturer strict. Oh my god... Alhamdulillah dah tamat dah semua tu! I just hope that I will pass for that subject because it will ruin my sem 2 if I need to repeat that subject. HAHAHA

INTERESTING PROGRAMMES

Dekat universiti ni for me program-program yang dibuat interesting and able to develop my skills and knowledge. Ada macam-macam talk, Humanity Night, Ambang Merdeka and etc. I look forward for the upcoming sem programmes!

Aku dah kebuntuan idea. I'm sorry that this entry is very personal. I knew that not everyone loves to know about other personal life if it doesn't give any benefits to you. Sorry again. Thanks for reading. My followers are very sendu right now because aku menghilangkan diri lama gila. Bila muncul cakap macam orang dah putus harapan pulak en! Aduh ngek ngok betul Seha! HAHAHA. Stay tuned for my next entry. I will be talking about my new International friend from the UK that opens my eyes about Islam and how she lives as a Muslim in the UK.

so, tu jelah aku nak story.

Assalamualaikum

Alhamdulillah alhamdulillah. I am now officially an IIUM student.

For this entry, I would like to share with you guys what I had experienced during the tawe (taaruf week). So, our university held the tawe for one week.

I registered myself on 15 June 2019. Based on the schedule that I had received, the registration would start at 8:30 a.m. I arrived at IIUM Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) 20 minutes earlier. But guess what? The registration venue already packed by human! Maybe because of that, my room is at the third floor. HUHUHU

CFS IIUM here in Gambang, Pahang, is a new campus replacing the Petaling Jaya campus in Selangor. So, my batch is the first batch studying here in this Gambang campus. New campus, new facilities. But of course, it’s not fully completed yet. For example, we still don’t have a laundry room, tv room, vending machine, lots of ATM Machine (at the moment, we only have one ATM machine here in Administration Building) and etc. The registration day was quite hectic for me because we’re not allowed to park our car near the Mahallah (asrama). I know the reason why, so I’m okay with it. Luckily my mahallah is not that far. So here I’ll share with you guys how our Mahallah looked like.

sisters room

sisters room

al-biruni room

al-biruni room

The first night at CFS IIUM, we had EPT (English Placement Test) and APT (Arabic Placement Test) briefing session. For your information, every student that had been accepted to further their studies in IIUM, they need to take two exams which is EPT and APT. I am not planning to talk more about these exams. So sorry. For the second day, I don’t have any program so, I just stayed in my room and study for APT and EPT that would be held the day after.

For me, both exams were very challenging. For EPT, it had been a long time since the last time I write in English, I use my English. So, it quite difficult for me to write and remember some of the English words. For APT, of course. Very hard. For essays section, I don’t even do it! HAHA I don’t even understand what the questions wanted. So yeah. So much redha at that time. I just want to give you guys some advice regarding EPT and APT exams. Do study and practice to write essays! If you are exempted from these exams, you don’t have to take language classes. Which is, your timetable won’t be so packed, less time for classes, more time to study by your own and rest. But if you’re not exempted, don’t be sad because it will enhance your language skills. Do take it positively!

After EPT and APT exams, we had rehearsal for the baiah ceremony and at night we had CCSU briefing. Starting from that day, we only had briefing sessions at morning until night. The closing ceremony for the Tawe was the baiah ceremony. After that, I am officially an IIUM student.

That’s all about my orientation life. The only thing that made me tired and frustrated was when I wanted to buy foods and about the committee. Err, hehe.. I need to que a very very very long line to buy food and we only have 1 hour to take bath, to eat, to buy food. It’s CRAZY. I only had one proper meal a day during Tawe. About the committee, they don’t look like a one team. Someone said A, then another committee said B. So??? I really hope that next committee for tawe would be better than this year to manage this tawe program.

So, itu jelah aku nak story.

Aku mintak maaf kalau ada yang tak faham aku membebel apa tapi aku cuma sedang membiasakan diri untuk tulis dalam English sebab dekat UIA ni everything in English and Arabic. So, yeah. I'm so sorry. Even aku pon rasa awkward gila bila menulis dalam Bahasa Inggeris.
